After spending many years obsessed with Wes Anderson, I was already captivated by any artistic opportunity to escape the drudgery of real life for stories of a more beautiful and poignant world. Beirut’s cinematic grandeur of multi-instrument melodies paralleled the movies I had come to love for illustrating basic human experiences of love and loss in a fresh and more contemplative way."
