Happy Mondays - kinky afro, 1990
"Kinky Afro" is a song by the English alternative rock band Happy Mondays, produced by Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osborne. It was released as the second single from the band's third studio album, Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches, on 8 October 1990. The song's chorus paraphrases the Labelle song "Lady Marmalade".

The Radio Dept - david semi-instrumental betheriel, 2023
"Been a fan of them for years, and the other day I hopped over to their Spotify page because I always randomly get the urge to listen to their music this time of year. I was kind of shocked to see them at nearly a million monthly listeners- last time I checked I believe they were at something like 200,000? Though I can’t recall when exactly that was. Curious if they’ve been having any kind of viral blowup lately. It’d be great id more people knew about them because they’ve always felt very underrated to me. Such a special band"
Neil Young - don't let it bring you down live at massey hall, 1971
"When Neil Young took the stage on that cold (I’m guessing) Toronto night in early 1971, it was just him, an acoustic guitar, a piano and that contraption that holds your harmonica and possibly fixes your scoliosis. Possibly. At the time, he was 26-years-old with a songbook and career that would’ve been the envy of musicians twice his age."

The Beatles - think for yourself, 1965
"In his 1980 autobiography, I, Me, Mine, George Harrison recalls little about the inspiration behind "Think for Yourself". He said that his intention was to target narrow-minded thinking and identified the British government as a possible source. Partly as a result of the vagueness of his comments, the song has invited interpretation as both a political commentary and a statement on a failing personal relationship."

James - space, 2001
"Space is the opening track from the 2001 James album Pleased To Meet You. It was not performed live during the Autumn 2000 tour when most of the new album was previewed. There are a couple of alternative versions of the song on early promos of the album, which mainly consist of a different opening section with more acoustic guitar. A live version of the song appears on the 2002 Getting Away With It Live cd and dvd. The song featured extensively on the 2011 orchestra tour and remained a regular in the set in 2012 and 2013. It reappeared at orchestral dates in 2023."
A-ha - i wish i cared, 2000
"'I Wish I Cared' shows just how talented Morten Harket is as his remarkable voice carries this gentle gem through with notes that few other male vocalists could see, never mind reach."

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - falling apart so slow, 2017
"the glimmering "Falling Apart So Slow" charts a seasonal year wherein intimacy unravels in his absence"
The Flaming Lips - oczy mlody, 2017
"he found the album title and some of the song titles and lyrics in a second-hand book, a Polish translation of Erskine Caldwell's Close to Home, titled Blisko domu. He and the band liked the words primarily due to their sound, rather than their meaning, "which he interpreted as 'Oxy Melody,' a futuristic drug."

Pink Floyd - one of my turns, 1979
"The song features some of Waters' most strenuous recorded vocal workouts, with him ending at a relatively high A above middle C. The composition's instrumental introduction makes use of the Phrygian mode, a musical mode rarely used in pop and rock music."
