Neil Young - like a hurricane, 1977
Neil Young wrote the lyrics on a piece of newspaper in the back of a friend's car while stopped at a scenic lookout point. He then went home and played the chords on a Univox Stringman. Young played the instrument through the night and finished the melody in just five minutes, but he was so high that he couldn't stop playing.

Laurent Voulzy is a French singer-songwriter and guitarist, born on August 18, 1948, in Paris, France. He gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with his hit songs "Belle-Île-en-Mer," "Le Coeur Grenadine," and "Rockollection". He is also known for his charity work, including supporting causes related to children and the environment.
Tom Verlaine - words from the front, 1982
Verlaine was born Thomas Miller in 1949 in Morristown, New Jersey. He co-founded Television in 1973 with Richard Lloyd. Verlaine's unique style of playing the guitar, which involves intricate finger-picking and dissonant chords, has influenced many musicians in the punk and post-punk scenes. He released his first solo album, "Tom Verlaine", in 1979. He was a friend and collaborator of many notable musicians in the New York City music scene of the 1970s, including Patti Smith, Richard Hell, and Brian Eno. Verlaine's work with Television has been described as helping to lay the foundations of the post-punk movement. He has been praised for his songwriting, and is often cited as one of the most influential songwriters of the punk era. Died yesterday.
The Moody Blues - have you heard part one, 1969
The name "The Moody Blues" was inspired by Duke Ellington's "Mood Indigo". They were one of the first rock bands to incorporate classical music elements into their songs. Lead singer Justin Hayward wrote the classic hit "Nights in White Satin" at the age of 19.
The Housemartins - reverends revenge, 1986
The band was formed in 1983 in Hull, England. The Housemartins had a distinctive style, blending ska, pop, and gospel music to create their sound. They were known for their politically charged lyrics, tackling issues such as poverty and war. The band was short-lived, with a career spanning only three years and three albums. The Housemartins' lead singer, Paul Heaton, went on to form the band The Beautiful South after the Housemartins disbanded.
